What is the Images to PDF Tool?
In simple terms, this tool helps you to convert images to PDF, meaning you just upload a single image or multiple images and then convert them to a PDF file. All the images will be in the single PDF file. And every image will be on a separate page.
This tool is useful for those who want to convert images to PDF but don't want to use any third-party tools. This tool is a simple and easy-to-use tool that allows you to convert images to PDF.
Why I built this tool?
I was filling out an admission form for a friend's diploma, but I needed to upload the school leaving certificate and results as a PDF. Still, I had only images taken from my phone, so I quickly tried to search for an image for the PDF converter. Still, I was a little hesitant before uploading personal documents to the internet, but I had no choice—I uploaded it.
Then, after some time, I was filling out an income tax form and faced an issue, so I tried to submit a grievance. For that, I was trying to attach a screenshot of the current screen and error message, but again, the income tax website allowed only PDFs. So again, I hesitated to upload my sensitive info to the internet.
I know most of the time it's safe to use those tools, but again, the reason for hesitation was the internet—it's full of mysteries, and you never know what could go wrong. It might not be immediate but rather slow, like quicksand. That's how small digital traces can quietly accumulate over time.
I tried to search for offline tools such as ImageMagick, but compared to the web, the web is a very accessible service. So I created this tool, which runs in the browser only. No photos will be uploaded to a server or transferred via the internet. You can just load this website first, then turn off the internet and use it, or just press Ctrl+S to save it as a webpage and use it like software.
I kept this tool simple: just upload a list of images, either one by one or by selecting multiple, then order them accordingly. That's all—click on "Convert Images to PDF," and the PDF will start downloading automatically.
This tool is not perfect, to be honest. For example, while ordering, you can only view preview-sized images—in short, you can't fully screen the image. Also, it's fixed that one image will be considered as one page. Even the name of the PDF is fixed, so after download, you'll need to rename it as per your need.
Another use case I encountered was trying to put my POC (research) in the Confluence wiki. It was about Warp AI. Normally, if I do any POC, it's all on the web, and then I use the SingleFile Chrome web extension to export chat conversations as a single HTML file so that stakeholders and peers can benefit and review the POC. But Warp AI is software, and while it supports sharing on the web, it wasn't working properly as it didn’t share the history. So I had to take a lot of screenshots and then bundle them as a PDF using this tool. Otherwise, if I uploaded them as a ZIP or other format, it wouldn't be wise to do that.
